[03.03.2008] Vidzemes Tourism Association demands to tidy out the tourism industry
On 18th of February a meeting took place in the Ministry of Economics, where the tourism professionals met with the state secretary of the Ministry, state secretary in the European Parliament, the head of TAVA and the head of the economic relations and trade relations.
The meeting took place, after a letter to the minister Kaspars Gerhards was addressed by:
Gunta Ušpele - the head of Jūrmala city tourism and external affairs department
Guntars Seilis - the head of Kurzeme Tourism Association
Raitis Sijāts - the head of Vidzeme Tourism Association
Asnāte Ziemele - president of Lauku Ceļotājs
All participants agreed that more cooperation is necesarry between the tourism industry and the ministry. Also it was decided that a meeting will be organized to discuss an important issues, as:
- Annual budget to the tourism industry
- The effectiveness of TAVA offices in Sweden adn Finland
- The problems with the EU structural funds
The tourism specialists were generally satisfied with the work of Uldis Vītoliņš, the head of TAVA, but at the same time asked the ministry for more active participation and support to the tourism industry.
