New Latvian tourism quality logo launched at this years "Balttour" international tourism exhibition
During the recent "Balttour 2012"tourism exhibition, the new Latvian tourism quality system "Q Latvia" was introduced
The first to be granted the symbol was the Mežotne Palace Hotel, Turaida Castle Complex and Museum, Valmiermuiža Brewery and hotel "Bīriņu Pils" (all members of Vidzeme Tourism Association) as well as hotel "Raibie Logi" in Ventspils city.
Also given the logo were several Riga tourism information centers at Ratslaukums Square 6, Kalku Street 16 and Prages Street 1. The Talsi Region Tourist Information Center, the Kuldiga Tourist Information Center and the Saulkrasti Tourist Information Center also were given the "Q Latvia" tourism quality symbol.
2011 was a successful year for the Latvian tourism industry. The report on "European Tourism in 2011 - Trends & Prospects" shows that 22 out of 23 European countries saw substantial growth in the tourism sector in the fourth quarter of last year. The number of visitors increased by three percent in countries such as Great Britain during this period, to over 20 percent in countries such as Latvia and Lithuania.
According to information from "Eurostat", there was a 14.1 percent increase in the number of nights tourists spent in Latvian accommodation establishments in 2011, which was the fourth largest increase among European Union members.
