Art festival Cēsis 2010 - 23rd of July till 15th of August
This year art festival Cēsis 2010 will eventuate from 23rd of July till 15th of August, offering special programs in fields of academic music, contemporary art, theatre and movies.
Festival traditionally will be started by opening of contemporary art exhibition and a concert.
In contemporary art exhibition this year will be represented artists from the all three Baltic States, thus reflecting actual trends in whole Baltic art. This year exhibition is named Take care. The concept of exhibition is based in a wish to clarify the relationship between the artist and society. More precisely artists feelings and thoughts about society.
In the festival opening concert are included works of Baltic and Scandinavian composers that will be performed by the most admired Latvian contemporary music interprets - Latvian Radio Choir, chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga and conductor Normunds Šnē. Concert will take place in Cesis Sport Complex, where are seats up to 1200 visitors.
In other festival concerts will participate State Academic Choir Latvija, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra and Vidzeme Chamber Orchestra, Group of Radio Choir and Kaspars Putniņš, conductors Māris Sirmais, Andris Veismanis, outstanding soloists Inga Kalna, Samsons Izjumovs, Aleksandrs Antoņenko. In festival program also are included New Riga Theatre performance Vectēvs and Japanese movie program.
This year festival organizers have gained financing from Nordic Culture Point for organizing an international conference The Care to Create Rūpes radīt that will be in 24th of July. The main theme of conference will be development trends of Baltic and Scandinavian contemporary art and academic music, creation and strengthening of cooperation networks. To participate in conference are invited professionals from Lithuania, Estonia, Finland, France, Iceland and Russia. It is expected that this Project will encourage partnerships and activate the cooperation between culture organizations that are involved.
