Tour de LatEst: Latvian - Estonian cycling route Tour de LatEst will be opened with more than 1000 km long opening trip
In 11th of July at 11.00 in Sigulda, Festival Square will be given start to the 14 days long cycling marathon along most beautiful places of Vidzeme and Southern Estonia that are included in the new Latvian Estonian cycling route Tour de LatEst.
More than 100 participants are applied for the trip cycling tourists and enthusiasts from Latvia and Estonia and even from such countries as Great Britain, Germany, Belarus, Lithuania, Belgium and Turkey.
During the opening trip of the route till 24th of July participants will drive more than 1000 km long distance getting acquainted with Latvian and Estonian nature and culture, beautiful landscapes and most interesting sight-seeing objects. The new route is 1296 km long and it will be fully secured with the entire necessary infrastructure to travel individually. New cycling route in Latvia will go through Sigulda, Cēsis, Valmiera, Valka, Alūksne, Gulbene, Madona, Ērgļi and Lielvārde, and through Valga, Viljandi, Elva, Tartu, Otepe in Southern Estonia. Cycling marathon will be guided by Latvian ex-biathlonist Jēkabs Nākums.
In Saturday, 24th of July everybody is welcomed to join cycling marathons last section from Lielvārde to Sigulda. Cycling marathon is not a competition but an invitation for a healthy and active recreation. The start of marathons last section will be at 11.00 near Lielvārde railway station. Cycling marathon Tour de LatEst is organized due to Estonian Latvian cross border cooperation program project Go Cycling Through Vidzeme and Southern Estonia. The aim of the Project is to promote the popularity of Southern Estonia and Vidzeme region in European tourism market, enlarging the offer of regional tourism products and services.
