[15.01.2008] This year Valmiera city will be popularized in numerous exhibitions
Valmiera Tourism Information centre (TIC) this year will popularize Valmiera city and its surroundings in several exhibitions - both, in Latvia and abroad
Information about Vakmiera will go to Finland, where the annual toursim exhibition "Matka" will take place. Valmiera will also be represented in 15th International tourism exhibition "Balttour 2008", which will take place from 8th till 10th of February in Riga. Representatives from Valmiera TIC will also participate in exhibitions in Tallin and Vilnius.
To popularize Valmiera city, the TIC will publish brochures with information about tourism routes, recreation possibilities, dining and accommodations in Valmiera and its surroundings. Valmiera district map in 4 languages (Latvian, English, Russian and German) will be ready for Balttour. The publishing of map is supported by Rūjiena TIC. The newest information about tourism is also available in internet under www.valmiera.lv
As this is the 725th anniversary for Valmiera city, together with publishing house "Jumava", a photo album will be published with photos of Valmiera city. In this album the photographies from photo contest, as well as many other will be included.
Valmiera TIC also has summarized the statistics about tourists in year 2007. According to the data, Valmiera TIC services were used by 5161 persons (3860 from Latvia, 1478 from abroad). From foreign guests the most were Estonians (419, or 7.8% of total). The next were Germans - 341 or 6.4%, followed by Finns, Brits and Spaniards.
The most of them (1047 or 77.4%) were interested about sightseeing in Valmiera, 920 or 19.6% bought souvenirs. 442 or 8.3% were asking about various services in Valmiera, 375 or 7% - about accommodations, but 339 or 6.4% - about events in Valmiera. Among other reasons there were also questions about the work of tourism agencies, active recreation etc.
