[12.06.2008] The best idea for Vidzeme souvenir goes to Zanda Puče from Sigulda
On 23rd of May in Vidzemes Augstskola (Vidzeme University College) the final competition round for chosing a souvenir representing Vidzeme took place. The winner was Zanda Puče from Sigulda State Gymnasium with an idea to represent Vidzeme with a ring and corolla symbol, made from natural materials. The winner received Apple MacBook Air from Aldis Kušķis - deputy of the European Parliament
Z. Puče: It was a great experience to participate in the competition and I hope that my idea will popularize Vidzeme in Latvia as well as abroad."
Antons Samoilovs from Rīga Purvciems Secondary School, Kristiāna Blūma from Gulbīši Secondary School; Laila Medne from Smiltene Center Secondary School; Anastasija Kozlova from Rīga 60th. Secondary School; Maija Marinčenko from Rīga 60th. secondary school; Dace Lūkasa from Liepājas 5th. Secondary School; Madara Umure, Kristaps Nogobods, Mārtiņš Pjalkovskis and Tīna Kaufmane from Gulbene Arts School received a free excursion to the European Parliament in Brussels.
Ilgvars Ābols (Vidzeme University College): I think we have reached the target of the competition - at least the people who participated in the competition had to think about the tourism and tourism marketing. Young people from all Latvia have submitted creative ideas."
Alltogether, 22 works were submitted to the competition. The jury consisted from Aldis Kušķis (European Parliament), Inga Vilde (Head of Vidzeme Tourism Association), Agnese Ramata (Head of State Tourism Development Agency's Vidzeme office), Jānis Kalnačš , Inese Ebele, Ilgvars Ābols and Iveta Druva-Druvaskalne from Vidzeme University College Tourism Department.
The competition was organized by European Peoples Party and European Democrats in the European Parliament (EPPED) represented by Aldis Kušķis and Vidzeme University College in cooperation with Vidzeme Tourism Association and Tourism Development State Agency.
