[01.04.2008] A new vistors centre will be built near Cesis castle
In the framework of a project, a new visotrs centre will be built for Cesis catle - to be ready by August 2008
The new visitors centre will be built between Cesis Old castle, and the New Castle. Inside the centre there will be a wardrobe and WC, as well as the ticket sales will take place there. Cesis tourism information centre also will be moved to the new visitors centre.
"The new visitors centre will have more space and, therefore, more place for the stands. We are also planning to recruit more people and tourism specialists" says Liene Kirsteine, the head of Cesis TIC.
The new vistors centre will also be as a response to the increasing tourist flow - in year 2007, 426 757 people visited Cesis, and every year the number is growing by 100 000.
At the beginning of August, along with the visitors centre, also the first round of the reconstruction of the New Castle will be finished. The total costs are 2 346 205,59 LVL, and are financed by Cesis City Council and European Union.
This will be only a part of the reconstruction, as in year 2009 the reconstruction of the New Castle will continue, and the new, modern museum will be opened.
